Most disassembly hookahs that are threaded have this O-ring gasket, which protects the threads and insures an air tight seal. These O-ring gaskets can become brittle and crack after years of use. If you hookah is worth saving or has sentimental value, make sure to replace these rings when necessary. The O-ring gasket comes in two sizes. The small ring measures 1 cm in diameter and fits on most ports including the head, center shaft, hose, and check valve. The large O-ring is 1.5 cm in diameter and fits on the large Mitsuba hose ports as well as the down stems on all MYA hookahs. Large O-rings are also common on Chinese rotators, some screw-on Syrian hookahs, and rare Egyptian screw-on hookah stems.
